It refers from person to person and factors such as age and health can be counted in. Ideally, your prescription should not be more than two years old. Please refer to the table below that contains information on how often you should get your eyes tested:

Age

How often should you get an eye exam?

Under 7 years old Every six months
7 to 16 years old Every year
16 to 59 years old Every two years
60 to 69 years old Usually every two years, but sometimes every year
Over 70 years old Every year

Health

How often should you get an eye exam

If you are diabetic Every year
If you or a member of your family has glaucoma Every year

An eye exam is one of the simplest appointments to make and the process does not take more than 15 minutes. So, we highly recommend that if your prescription is more than 2 years old, then you must visit your optician to get a new one unless you are extremely confident that your prescription has not changed.

The cost is as follows:

  • Delivery to any address in the United States is $5.95
  • Delivery to any address in the United Kingdom is $9.95

Photochromic Lenses

It is widely accepted to protect our skin from the sun especially at seaside, because harmful UV rays can burn our skin and in the long run can even cause more serious diseases such as skin cancer. Whereas few people know that UV radiation is just as much harmful for our eyes and can compromise healthy eyesight leading to eye fatigue and even cataracts. So it is highly recommended to begin protecting your eyes from the sun as early as possible.
Photochromic lenses absorb 100% of both UVA and UVB rays protecting your eyes from harmful sunlight.
Yes. Photochromic lenses automatically tint in bright sunlight blocking the glare. As the UV radiation increases the lenses will darken accordingly effectively reducing glare at every light intensity.
Photochromic lenses darken on exposure to sunlight, which makes them perfectly suitable for everyday use both outdoors and indoors. They reduce glare and protect your eyes from harmful UV rays not only on bright sunny days but also when it is cloudy. However, as said above photochromic lenses react to a direct contact with UV rays, which means there will be cases when you will need a pair of prescription sunglasses. For instance, a car windshield blocks UV rays away, hence photochromic lenses will not darken while it might be very bright and sunny. Also when it’s extremely hot and sunny, photochromic eyeglasses may not tint as much as sunglasses.
Yes. Photochromic lenses automatically adjust the amount of shade according to the intensity of light thus reducing glare and helping you see more clearly both outdoors and indoors.
Yes, if you don’t want to carry two pairs of glasses, but want to enhance your vision in all light conditions. Photochromic lenses offer a 2-in-1 solution combining the features of clear lenses and prescription sunglasses. They provide 100% protection from harmful UVA and UVB radiation. Just like clear lenses photochromic lenses come in all frame styles, in different materials and designs.
As soon as photochromic lenses are exposed to UV rays, they begin tinting and the more intense UV rays are the darker the lenses get. When you return indoors and there are no UV rays, photochromic lenses quickly and smoothly clear out and become transparent again. This transition happens so seamlessly that most wearers can hardly even notice.
Since most car windshields absorb and filter UV radiation, photochromic lenses are not activated and remain transparent when you are in a car.
Yes. Photochromic lenses just like regular clear lenses are suitable for wearing anywhere both inside and outside every single day. They enhance your vision at any light conditions day and night.
Yes. Photochromic lenses are compatible with an extensive selection of of lens styles including single-vision, bifocals, trifocals and progressives.

Progressive and Bifocal

Beginning around age 40, your eyes can slowly lose the capacity to concentrate on close-by articles. Progressive is a amazing lens which incorporates multiple vision fields into a single lens without any clear distinction among the fields themselves. The power inside the lenses adjusts slowly from top to bottom from Distance, Intermediate(Computer) to Reading.
Progressives you get sleek, continuous vision at close to, middle, and distant focal ranges, with no lines or unsettling image jumps. Bifocals, on the opposite hand, correct close to and distant vision solely. there is a visible line between the 2 fields of vision. that is what creates an often-annoying image jump after you go from one distance near.
They can be – to variable degrees for various individuals. after you initially wear them, you'll feel a brief amount of distortion or wobbliness in your vision till you get accustomed. for a few individuals, it takes a couple of minutes, others, a few days. There are some who take one or two weeks, too.
